SPECIAL EDITION
=============
October begins the
time of year when stores are getting geared up for the
holiday season. Tearooms are no exceptions, and some are
getting ready for their Fall Open houses. With this in mind,
TeaRoomsOnLine.com has a special
edition this month. We hope you'll enjoy this issue.
In the last couple of
weeks, I have managed to visit and have lunch at a few local
tearooms. There was the Tisket Tasket in Des Moines, Teacups and Tiaras in
the historic Valley Junction and also Canterbury House in
Ankeny (see further info below). These visits are always a delight, and I've found
many items to indulge myself in. I have also taken up a
five-week class to explore the teas of the world and its many comforts.
This is definitely an interesting class and I am glad that I
signed up for it.
Just a reminder again, I
have been receiving a lot of
emails lately regarding reservations. Flattered as I am that
some may think that we operate a tearoom, I'm afraid that
TeaRoomsOnLine.com does not do so, nor do we accept
reservations on behalf of the tearooms listed here. So, please contact the tearooms
directly if
you need to make reservations.
Have a great Halloween,
everyone and don't forget to Fall Back on October
27th! It's DST again.
Warm wishes,
Annette

AUTUMN HIGHLIGHTS
=================
Here's a few that are having their annual Fall/Holiday
Open Houses:
Peppercorn
Pantry Tea Room and Gifts has a Holiday Open House
scheduled on November 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Their Christmas line will consist of many new and unique
Christmas gifts, including a line of Teddy Bears made to
look like Steif Bears in honor of The Teddy Bear's '100th
anniversary'.
Tea Thyme at Sadie's
in Fort Dodge, IA will be hosting a Holiday Open House
& Style Show on November 14 through to 17.
Ivy's
at the Shoppes on Grand in Ames, IA will be having their
annual Holiday Open House on November 24 from noon to 5 p.m.
Marjorie's
Tea House & Gift Shop in Mason City, IA will be
having a Christmas Open House in the gift shop on November
29 & 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Canterbury
House is a new tearoom located in Ankeny, IA. It has an
excellent gift shop, all nine rooms of it. They carry a
variety of products including bulk teas and coffee, cooking
accessories, seasonal items and much more. I had stopped by to
visit the tearoom, and I loved their roomful of china
products. They had quite a selections of unique china
teapots. Reservations are strongly
recommended.
The Victorian House Tea Room in Forest City is now called
Flora Lynne's,
and is being run by a new owner. Previous proprietors, Doris
& Richard Johnson, sold their tearoom but continues to
run their bed and breakfast.
Morning Glory Tea Room
will be reopening on October 17. Tearoom hours are Tuesdays
to Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Call ahead for more
information.
You have to experience the Teacups
& Tiaras tearoom in Valley Junction. Prior to being
seated, our hostess asked us to choose either a hat or a tiara,
so we could wear them as we had our lunch/tea. What a
cute idea!
I had lunch at the Tisket
Tasket last month and thoroughly enjoyed browsing
through the store afterwards. They had quite a
selection of their Halloween products already out on display
. Please note that they will be relocating sometime soon.
Watch this space for an
update!
Salisbury House is presenting Mystery
Theater at Salisbury Manor on October 19, starts at 6:15
p.m. Reservations are required. Please call 515.274.1777 for
information.
If you're into Arts & Crafts, then you won't want to
miss this event! The 20th Annual Autumn Festival is to be
held on October 25, 26 and 27 at the Vets Auditorium in Des
Moines. I have cleared my calendar! Have you? Check out
their website at Huffman
Productions Inc. on forthcoming events etc.

Here's another testimonial
regarding the Miracle Cloth!
Pat A. of Dallas,
TX wrote, "I love the idea that it works
with just water. It's so nice not to have to buy all the
cleaners. And with the cleaning products, I didn't always
like the results. Now I can dust with the cloth only and
everything stays clean longer. And I can use one cloth to
clean the sink, mirror, and commode bottom, where with the
various cleaners, I can't do that--there would be streaks on
the mirrors. And I'm going to save a lot of money, too! I now have a house that is spotless. I use one Trasan
cloth in the kitchen (red), one in the bathroom (pink), and
one for dusting (green). My house has never looked this good
(the truth). This morning, I even washed my face with the cloth. It
left me with a soft clean feeling. I know I will use it all
over! I love these cloths."
